Lissette Mendez has been with the Miami Book Fair, the most prominent book festival in the U.S., since 2004. As Director of Programs, she is responsible for all literary arts and educational programming. Mendez is an accomplished writer who has published poetry and creative nonfiction in anthologies and national literary magazines and newspapers. She has also taught creative writing and composition at Miami Dade College and Florida International University. Ms. Mendez holds a Master in Fine Arts in Creative Writing. With photojournalist Carl Juste, she manages the Knight Foundation grant-winning project, “Havana, Haiti: Two Cultures, One Community,” a book and exhibit that examines Cuba and Haiti through the work of prominent photojournalists and writers.
