Join Focus on the Story, Lost Origins Gallery and Fujifilm for the opening reception of Behind the Loom: Legacy & Heritage of Navajo Weaving, an exhibition by Fleurette Estes, the winner of Focus on the Story’s 2021 Emerging Storyteller Grant. Behind the Loom is a collection of images & essays documenting Navajo Weaving, one of the oldest Navajo art forms, by Navajo photographer Fleurette Estes. Inspired by the labor of her Master-Weaver stepmother and sisters, Fleurette was compelled to pick up her camera and share their stories, struggles and efforts to teach a younger generation the weaving traditions.
