Katie Jett Walls

Katie is a documentary photographer, creating visual stories for families in the Washington D.C. area, as well as shooting documentary projects that give voice to those in marginalized communities and witness to the human experience. In addition to running a successful photography business for 13 years, Katie recently traveled to Puerto Rico to document communities hardest hit by Hurricanes Irma and Maria; has exhibited her family documentary work in a three-person show at Glen Echo Photoworks, and is currently working on a long-term project following an HIV+ veteran in Queens, N.Y. Katie is the founder and editor of Confluence Magazine, launching in September 2018, to highlight the documentary projects of emerging photo storytellers and connect them with gatekeepers in media and publishing. Before turning her attention full-time to photography, Katie worked in nonprofit development in the D.C. area, helping to secure major donor funding for City Lights Public Charter School, Capital City Public Charter School, and the American Institute for Cancer Research.
